Serious off road steering
Need a little help. Installed my steering kit today and I have major bump steer. I am wondering if it is because of my drop pitman arm. Can't think of any other reason but not sure. HELP

I know this sounds too obvious, but we replaced my brothers steering box yesterday and it was doing the same thing when we finished up... Turns out, the bolt/pin that runs in to the pitman arm with the castle nut wasn't tight enough... We put a few more cranks on it and it fixed it right up. Just another suggestion while you're waiting on a response from serious guy... Good Luck!

If you put on a drop pitman arm, did you also put on a drop track bar bracket? As N20jeep mentioned, the track bar and drag link angles need to be parallel and as close to the same length as possible. Those angles being off will major bump steer.

is it the over the knuckle or under the knuckle system? on his website, for the OTK system it states you need to more your track bar above the axle. not doing so could cause bump steer

Thanks for all the input. I am aware of the geometry issues but not sure how things with my setup were going to work. I am running on the rock krawler 8" long arm and I had read several things some time ago and couldn't remember if the drop pitman was discussed. I have heard back from frank and emailed pics to him and he thinks that the angles are definitely the issue. I do not have a stock pitman arm so i removed and flipped the pitman arm joint to raise the angle closer to parallel but that was not helpful either. I think I am just to tired and it is to dark. Tomorrow I will see if I can locate a stock pitman arm but I am open to any suggestions. Thanks again.

Here is a pic from this morning. Last night we flipped the pitman joint over and mounted it from the top just to see how the change in geometry would affect it. No real improvement.
