I'm going to check all of those out and the duratracs! Any good recommend size of wheel for 31x10.50-15?
Longer shackle makes for better ride on road and more flex offroad as it has longer range of movement. Combined with no lift shackle relocators which you could get also it would make for the best setup on a rear of a leafspring xj IMO. 3 in leafs will work also, don't get me wrong. And you have to add shocks to your list also

Oh wow! Thanks, I never knew that. I'll look for a 2" leaf and 1" shackle! Also do some people add another half inch usually on the rear if they anticipate packed loads usually? (Lots of camping gear) I wouldn't have it packed most of the time though.

I'm considering the Bilsteins 5100 if they're actually worth the ride, compared to RCs or REs?

If that's what you want you could get shackles with two holes so you could adjust the lift.

The Bilstein's are worth it IMHO. I have heard that the monotube RE's are pretty good, but the RC's aren't really that great of an upgrade, but I do not have any experience with then.

How is the ride? Ideally, I'd like a soft ride for most of riding around but obviously somewhat stiff still if I'm ever going to be under heavy load and such.

Sounds worth it!

ZJ tie rod= 20$
DIY midlength control arms= $100 in components and some fab work

The "lift" itself wasn't much money at all, however I spent $450 on an adjustable track bar and 4 bilstien 5125 shocks.

There's literally a ton of options, just need to take the time to figure out what's best for you!
I bet that thing rides great... Got any pics of these midlength control arms you made?

like others have said, craigslist and the junkyard are your best friends.

I got a pair of OME coils for 50 bucks from a local jeeper
I bought almost new Fox shocks off a JK from craigslist at half the price of new (btw you can't go wrong with the bilsteins. 100% worth every penny. I've had two different RC shocks and they're just terrible. Anyone who disagrees has never had anything better)
My control arms were free by a local guy
I just bought 17x9 brand new never mounted D Windows for 100 bucks from a guy who never had a chance to put them on before he
sold his xj
Look at jegs or summit racing for wheels. 15X8 steelies can be had for about 60 a piece
Look into making an xj/xj bastard pack with shackle relocation

Basically if you have the time and patience you can make one hell of a ride without emptying your savings. good luck!
