Running EXTREMELY Rich
Ok So I recently put in a stroker/bored motor. its a 4.7L now and its runnning extremely rich, like black plugs, black smoke out the back almost dripping gas out of the tail pipe. Do you think I should start looking at the coolant temperature sensor on the bottom of the block, the MAT sensor, MAP sensor, or what? It has new OEM injectors new fuel filter and stock fuel pressure regulator. any ideas?

You can test the sensors....I'd test the MAP. Then 02 sensor as well.

I would check out the Jeep stroker forum. I know there is one out there...

Its got a brand new O2 sensor in it with new headers. I didnt know they had one ill go google that thanks man!

I always thought strokers needed a different type of injector and regulator??
|
you dont have to. you can just get more power out of it with heavier injectors and FPR. If anything though running stock stuff should lean it out not make it run super rich.

I've heard an adjustable MAP sensor isn't a bad buy. |
you can build one for around 20 bucks but its for fine tunning not really a big jump like I need but Im def looking into it
and yeah mines a renix so I dont need to worry about the computer not adjusting to the engines needs. its pretty basic for me thank God |

Renix FTW.

Well I tested the MAT sensor and it was working perfect at 165~ it was at 831 ohms and steady going down as it got hotter. I unplugged the MAP sensor and it killed the engine so im guessing that's fine? I tested the coolant temperature sensor on the block and at 200~ it was at 3k so im going to replace that one and go from there.

make sure ur fuel regulator isn't ripped or torn . they can have a small ripp in the diaphram and then it wont regulate and just pour the fuel in . quick test , take it off and blow into it , if air comes out the vaccuum side by a new one . goood luck .
