So swapping the steering wouldn't fix it? I know there's a problem with my stock. Haha half of it is bent now because of the locker.

I'd honestly put in a ZJ tie rod and see how it feels. Very common UPGRADE for the XJ. And should suffice for 31s

Just the tie rod? What about drag link??

Ya I am? I installed it? Maybe your jeeps different? Sorry. I don't know what else to say to that. Glad zj works for you. I'm sure it would do just fine for me also. Just not what I wanna go with. Is that okay? Or do I have to be like you?

Rugged Ridge steering isn't a good choice. Go read the reviews where people talk about how the setup in subpar. You could even take the advice of the people who you asked your question to in the first place and who gave you alternatives.

If you don't want to pay to have someone weld your junk up, than at least buy something you can get parts for at any parts store around the nation. I'm sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear.

The drag link is the same between the two.

ZINGGG 06-17-2013 09:44 PM

You say the tie rod is your problem area right? The XJ and ZJ drag link are the same. If you're dead set on 1 ton, do it. But go with a better kit. Serious offroad is the way to go

I was looking at it. But if just swapping the tie rod will help then ill do that. 1 ton just seemed like a good upgrade I'd never have to worry about no matter how high I go or what tire size I go up to

ZINGGG 06-17-2013 09:50 PM

How bout you post a clear picture of your front end to show us this "bended steering" you're talking about.

And the ZJ tie rod is a very good upgrade. It did me good until I went to 1 ton

Cherokeekid4x4 06-17-2013 09:50 PM

Would a heavy duty tie rod or zj rod and new hd ends help a lot and fit my purpose? Will it help turning in 4wd?

Ill get one. It's not so bent I can't drive but it's bending ha. What kit did you go with?

Cherokeekid4x4 06-17-2013 09:56 PM

Well thanks guys. I think I got it all figured out.

ZINGGG 06-17-2013 09:57 PM

Made your decision just like that? I have Serious Offroad's 1 ton UTK.

What are you goin with?

Just going to upgrade the tie rod and all ends. And see how that works. I was just so dead set on 1 ton. Maybe this simple thing will fix it

ZINGGG 06-17-2013 10:04 PM

It's worth a shot if you ask me. Let us know how it does

Definitely. Also not spending money on the one ton will allow me to get my control arms. Bushings and shackles.
