Planning on lifting my 01 XJ Classic. Want a 5.5in lift and to run 33s. My dilemma is whether to go with the RE 5.5 super flex short arm kit or to go with the 3-link IRO long arm kit. I also don't have access to a welder so I'm after a bolt on kit. Otherwise I'd go with the RE 5.5 long arm kit. Does anyone have any thoughts on either of these lift kits?

What do you plan on using the jeep for...........Also are you looking to spend money? I am asking because long arms are great but expensive and to be honest not needed. True 3 links are fawesome but only worth it if you plan to wheel the crap out of the jeep. If your just looking to lift it and drive the rig and maybe wheel some then drop brackets are perfect and easy on the budget. Not really sure why Im writing this as most people will just wanna buy the most expensive thing they can put on the jeep and wheel it twice anyways lol..........

long arm does not cost that much more than a quality short arm set up, plus the ride of long arm can NOT be matched with a short arm set up of any kind even if you run control arm drop brackets that add to the cost anyway . do not make the same mistake a lot of people make including myself.....I went cheap short arm (rough country) to start with and was not happy with the ride even with bilstein shocks and RE springs it was not till I went long arm that I got the ride quality that was even better than stock

I'm running 33"x 12.5" tires on my '98 XJ. I chose the IRO 6.5" Rocklink. Installation was fairly straightforward and relatively easy. I went with the 6.5" lift to avoid trimming fenders.

i'm gonna be honest, I've never ridden in a short arm lift that high that rides good. No matter drop brackets or not, geometry just isn't there at heights that high

im running rough country long arms that have metalcloke bushings in them I bought the arms used off craigslist for $100 (they needed bushings ) $100 for new bushings , clocked my transfer case for free$ made a flat belly skid plate/ control arm mount $40.00 for steel and a day of cutting and welding I now have long arms that never need the bushings adjusted and flex better than any short arm set up and have a total of less than $300 and a days labor for everything including bolts and paint the only other thing I used was a set of bracket mounts my brother laser cut out for me at his work so that ma set you bake $50 more
