Default RPM's stuck high

Sometimes my rpms get stuck at 2500ish and just sit there revving high. Then I tap the gas and it will go back down. any ideas?

I would also clean the throttle body and make sure all the cables/linkage aren't binding.

Pop off the cover and look at it.. Probably all dirty/carboned up. Easy to clean with an old toothbrush, but don't twist the pintle, i've read it can damage 'em. Make sure the seat is clean too.
*XX2 on what xj wheeler said about binding.. cables can fray as they age, or it might need some lube. Post what you find out.
