Rough country leaf install issue
I have a set of RC leafs for my 94 XJ and I'm not able to install them. The factory springs from eye to eye are 49" but the RCs are 47.5....when I try to install them the shackle is pulling towards the front instead of rear. Are the lengths from eye to eye suppose to be the same? Or am I missing something here...thanks for any input

This is a common problem with RC leafs, you have a few options:
-Muscle the stock shackle forward and have a terrible shackle angle and very stiff ride.
-Buy some longer shackles that will make it easier to bolts the leaves up, but still have a poor shackle angle.
-Buy a shackle relocation bracket that will allow you to have an adjustable shackle location, fixing the problem entirely.
(That is in order from cheapest to most expensive)

no, RC has screwed up lately with the lengths and now they are shorter than they should be. a lot of people have been complaining about them lately.

RC has messed up lately with short leafs? Mine are a year and a half old and were too short. They have settled enough to have my factory shackle verticle now which is soo much nicer then tilted forward. I think when I fought with my leafs installing them, I lifted the axle some and used pry bars to fight the bolts in the shackle. It was kinda dangerous and way too dangerous compared to how they are suppose to go in. Leaf spring sliders are another option if you havent looked into them yet. I drive my cherokee about 10 times a year and havent fooled with relocations yet or sliders. I dont want to go to 5.5 inches of lift with sliders, and am unsure if I will ever want to go bigger with a shackle to keep me from getting leaf sliders.

Well it is straight up BS...I'll be contacting them tomorrow for either a refund or they can send me relocation brackets for free. Thanks for the info, I will never buy from them again

Prob told him tough and to deal with it like they did me with their cross member that the welds broke on and caved in. Customer service sucks and so do a lot of their parts.

wow, I thought some of you guys had installed these lifts before?
you can't "muscle" the shackle back far enough... what you need to do is bolt the front of the leafspring in, put the ujoints in and bolt it to the axle, then put a floor jack under the axle, and a bottle jack between the back half of the spring and the unibody. Basically you have to straighten the spring out some until it reaches. Once it has the weight of the jeep on it, it will be sitting at the right height.

Only if the spring is too short. If the springs are the right length you can mount them up then bolt on the axle. If the shackles angle forward once the full weight of the vehicle is on the leaves there is a problem. The problem with RC spings is almost as well documented as their crappy bushings.
