Default Rough Country 3" lift... ride quality?

I can't comment on stock ride quality since I know my rear springs are sagging badly and my shocks are probably worn, but as it is, I am comfortable driving my XJ daily.

If I were to install the RC 3" kit with leaf packs and nitro shocks... am I looking at a really stiff, uncomfortable ride, or something at least close to stock ride quality?

I've had my RC 3" for about 9 or 10 months now. I did get the one with the add-a-leaf and nitro shocks. Until now it is a bit stiff. From what I recall, I think changing the shocks to OME or Monroe Sensa Trac makes a big difference in ride quality.

I have a 3" RC series II AAL with the nitro shocks and it is definitely stiff. It is composed and handles well, flexes pretty good, but definitely stiff. Full leaf packs will be less stiff.

it will be very stiff because the nitro shocks(or any RC shocks) are crap. and because the control arms will be at a steeper angle. i would recomend getting bilstien 5125 shocks and that will make is ride just like stock! or go up to 4.5" lift and get bilstiens and a long arm kit. then it will ride better than stock.
hope this helps!

by the way i have the RC series II with nitros and a full leaf pack and i needed a tcase drop but i instead went with a full SYE and driveshaft. but just so you know i have a very stiff ride quality. I like the ride on the highway and when cornering because there is not much body roll but i HATE the ride quality in town when i hit a pot hole or go over speed bumps!

Yep, just like everyone says.. It's a stiffer ride than stock. I regretted not getting the full leaf pack when bought my RC 3" kit.

I had a RC 3"inch, took off the nitro crap shocks, and put Monroe sensa-trac shocks. It was a great upgrade, Was not stiff at all. I recommend sensa-trac with the RC 3in and don't even worrie about the nitro shocks, just leave them in the box.

Did you have an AAL or full packs?

i have a 3" AAL with the crappy RC Hydro shocks and it was really stiff for the first week or so. It was actually so stiff that I was getting carsick while driving it!!!! But it broke in and rides nice now, I'm going to upgrade the shocks soon

Alright. I'm getting full leaf packs regardless, my stock leafs are worn beyond saving.

So I wonder how much they'd charge me for the individual kit parts altogether, just not including the shocks? Or if they'd even do something like that for me?

Not really a priority right now, the ride is decent enough and they are performing on the trail. If I do change them out I will probably go for Bilsteins but it's good to know there are other options.

True, well like I said I deff recommend sensa-trac feels a lot diff then stock and RC shocks, on road and offroad. They are a bit costy but it's worth the up grade.
