A little background first. I am building my XJ for overlanding (planning trips to AZ, Utah, and CO) and maybe a few light trails in the forest of Louisiana. That being said, I have a question about lights, specifically roof mounted flood lights on the back of my XJ
I read and subscribed to the post in which daniellemarie008 posed a question about driving / fog lights and based on this discussion my flood lights will go on top of my bumper (same height as my head lights) and for the roof rack I am leaning towards the or maybe the .

My objective is two fold: brighter back up lights and use as a light source when needed. What is the best way to accomplish this without creating a lot of glare. My thought is mounting back up / flood lamps on the roof rack and after reading the afore mentioned discussion and now worried that by mounting the lights on the roof rack it may create a problem with glare at night time. Would I be better off with installing spots? Adding to the equation, the rear windows are tinted and my bumper mounted back up lights are not as effective as they should be.
Please feel free to chime in on my lighting decisions and help me work through this.
Thanks

Flood beam patterns would be more effective for area lighting so I would choose them over spots. That goes double for backup lights since you will/should not be backing up at a speed that is high enough to necessitate spot or pencil beams.
I should think that so long as your lights are mounted back a little from the edge of the roof/top of the lift hatch your rear glass should be shielded from direct glare.
