Either would be good, but my vote is for #2. Don't see that one very often.

#1, they already look more up to date, and once they're black they will be in style with today's trend. The other wheels look outdated by about twenty years.

I have #2 (Limited Tear-Drops) on mine and I can't stand them. I actually thought about painting or coating them but I think I still won't like them.

I didn't see that as the option but If I were going to change from the oem look, I would go with AEV's Pintlers in gunmetal and coyote Enterprise bead locks.

The set I don't powder coat will be getting a different set of tires and Coyote Bead locks for when I hit the trail. My goal is to build a sleeper XJ.

Do whatever one makes you happy. Paint them both and see which one you like better.

That's the problem I like them both In their own special way..I think #2 may be stronger off road, if that's the case I will coat #1 and then leave #2 factory finish and install a set of Coyote bead locks & aggressive tires for off-roading.

I would just buy something like a Cragar Soft Eight and be done with it. Then you have correct BS'ing on wheel no spacer BS hung on. Plus a wheel you really can take off road and if scratched up easy to fix or bent cheap to replace. Not find another wheel like yours and then have it powder coated (expensive) plus you will need 5 wheels.

You can get wheels from Summit or Jegs for cheap in steel their brands even cheaper than Cragar, plus they price match with free shipping. JMHO

I wouldn't spend 800 $ on internal beadlocks and use on factory wheel with a 29 " tire.

Powder coating a set is probaly going to be around 200 $ same for a set of steelies get a 31" tire and forget beadlocks .a 29 " tire with beadlocks is pointless after air down you will hang up on everything.you said you want a sleeper instead of beadlock buy a set of auto lockers and a good 31" and you'll be suprised what it'll do.and sell the factories.my .02 $
