Some people like the revolver shackles but most that have run them don't like them. They tend to let the rear suspension un-load at the worst time. IE going down a steep hill when the transmission downshifts into first gear.

It has been discussed a lot, the overall conclusion is typically don't use them. Check the similar threads at the bottom or do a search.

You think little revolver shackles un-load, check out some of the "double" shackle set ups the Taco guys run. Frickin scary.

I drove my setup ad a DD for years with them. I personally loved them.

I ran the revolver shackle for maybe three years. When you would get tippy at off camber moments, the unloading would make you feel as if the Jeep was on its way to tip. Personally I like the amount of flex, and the travel it gave my Jeep.

The intended purpose of the shackle is an awesome idea, but just know the movement makes the rear axle NOT feel stable since the back eyelets can move side to side on the leaf spring when ripping up the desert at higher speeds.

I ran the shackles, but that RK 8 inch rear leaf pack would flex so much, my leafs would settle.... and sag 3.5 inches in just over six months from NEW. After 4 different sets of rear leafs, I spent a ton on a 4 link and an 8.8....

Just do it. IF anything, you will get a few good stories about the "PUCKER Factor" when they unload on you. It will get your heart pumping quickly when it happens.

OR, that if could be "if anything, you will roll your jeep in a situation where it wouldn't have with standard shackles". Just sayin. I wouldn't run revolver shackles. Not because of the unloading, but more because I feel they are in incorrect solution to an easily fixed problem. Just relocate the shackle mount. Personal preference I guess.

Every one says don't use them, but has anyone tried solving the problem... my buddy runs them in his xj, & its a fact they open up down steep obstical or when the leafs preload, & shoot them open at high speeds! The plan we have for his is to put a limiting strap from the pumpkin the the body that is tight at normal stance. This will stop them from opening up at the same time, yet it won't limit travel! Problem solved

A tight limiting strap huh, that should ride nice... Again there is a much better way to address rear flex. And its proper shackle length and angle. With that you will ne amazed at how well the rear springs can work, safely.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the info and that is exactly what I was worried about and I am eventually going to a 4-link setup and just want something in there for the time being I will probably end up going with just bigger shackles

Not ratchet strap tight... with about an inch of slack in it! Plus if you wanted a comfy ride you shoulda bought a Cadillac! I'll take performance over ride quality all day long.

i ran them on my xj with long arms on the front and no sway bars, i ran it on the street, yes it had more body roll than a stock xj but it wasnt uncontrollable. i never had it unload like people say nor did i have a bad axle wrap issue either. imo they are great but thats just me, most people hate them

Please post some honest results of you limit strap once it's done. Let us know hot hard it jars you while driving.
I'll be sticking with my "caddilac ride" with proper shackles that works just as well
