Requirements or issues on 1-2" lift
2000 xj. Leafs were flat. Replaces struts front and rear. Seamed to help but struts are for dampening not ride height. So I have packs from a ram 1500 I'll be using to make bastard packs. Not likely I'll get back to stock height but aiming for 2 or less increase. Leafs seemed to be sagging on the truck I got them from but for $25 I couldn't pass it up. I suppose with my lighter truck they'll hold up just fine.
so, if I get 1-2" of lift what, if anyrhing, do I need modify or change? Struts? Pins? Bolts? Bushings? Drive shaft? Drop the trans or t case lower? This is new ball game for me as I'm a motorcycle and car guy.

See if you can swap the springs at the JY for a set of s-10 or dakota springs, then build the bastard pack. They are both proven to work.
My .02 worth.
86 XJ 2 door
2.5 liter, 4 speed
3" lift coils and bastard pack rear.

My junkyards aren't going to do that. I planned on only using a leaf from the 1500 packs as that should give me enough lift. Guess ill see how it goes. No other issues then for a 1-2" lift?

Oem leafs will give you a little lift since your stock springs are that shot.Or buy a 3 inch lift kit i would do either then over used springs and try to build a bastard pack.

Ignoring the issue of which springs the OP uses...
What struts are you referring to? The shocks?
Other than springs (or spacers) there is nothing else required for a 1-2" lift. Longer shocks are an improvement with 1-2" lift, but aren't a requirement.
I have 1.25" front and 1.75" rear lift using OME springs and it worked with stock length shocks, but works better with Bilstein 5100 shocks that are rated for 2-3" lift, but IME work well with 1-3" lift.
I also improved my bumpstops, but that wasn't required.
