Default Requirements for 8in Lift

im looking into the idea of ordering 8in lift coils and shocks but i don’t know what all i will need. My XJ is already on a skyjacker 4.5” lift. i have adjustable upper and lowers but I’m not sure if they will work for the 8in. But other than control arms, what will i need? one ton steering? drag link? brake lines? Just need the front end parts***

Steering long arms raised a couple inches on axle side to retain a semi decent arm angle. Track built and relocated to match Steering thats rsised high as possible.
probly wj Steering. Or possibly d44 knuckles with chevy outers chevy stubshafts chevy everything but inner shaft.

A welding machine, metal cutting tools,,

Possibly a divorce wich equals $$$$$$

4.88 or 513 gears.

Hell just use a dana 44 and a semi floating 14 rear or whatever maybe a 12 bolt.

I have done it. You will need long arms for your suspension. Don't think about stock suspension links. The stock ones will not work and aftermarket short arms are too short. The real trick is going to be track bar and steering. You will need cross over steering. That is too much lift for tie rods to accommodate the angles. And for the stock track bar too. So plan on WJ knuckles and cross over steering, custom track bar and brackets if you don't want death wobble, extended front brake lines for a start

Is it possible for you to make a little build list? Parts that you used? it would be greatly appreciated if possible. And i have all the tools and time to make it happen just need a good foundation and start. Thanks guys for the help

Just for the front you will need:
Long arm kit (I built my own pretty cheap from quality parts)
2 Parts Mike long arm kits
1 DOM tube and reverse thread and regular thread joints
Steel for plating the frame and making
WJ knuckles and brakes
1/4" spacer for the unit bearing
Tereflex tapered sleeves to put tie rods over the knuckle
Custom tie rod kits for drag link and tie rod, mine are Tereflex
Steel for custom track bar brackets, frame and axle
31" long Monroe Gas Magnum shocks, re bushed on the bottom for bar pin and adapter on top to accept an eye. I make mine. These shocks have 10 stage valving and ride very well
Sway bar from Isuzu Trooper attached to that new cross member you will make and the ends to a small shackle located about halfway down the lower long arm
New steel wheels with 2.5 to 3.5" back spacing
Extended brake lines

I think that is about it, but you will have to rethink about how you make that track bar

If you do anything less, you will hate it

The list includes everything
long arms, steering, track bar,
in my mind steering and track bar is focal point of every well built suspension. But its the least under stood of everything.



this is my millerfab 3link arms raised at axle side to retain nearly factory arm angels.
This is less than 3" of lift. At 8" id lower frame side mounts a couple inches and run axle side as high as possible.

my axle.

what size tires are you wanting to run.

I could make a 8" work but I doubt any good bought kits out there specifically if they retain a flat belly arm angles would defeat the hole purpose of a long arm

Noones even mentioned drive line angles probably going to eat ujoints if what you put together is even streetable

Do lots of research talk to people make phone calls dont rely on my word posted on this bull**** internet. Research and collect enough info to make your own informed decisions.

At the end of the day its yours build it how you want not how I or anyone else thinks it should be.
