Im working on my 95 xj. I wanna clean up under the hood. So my question is what vacuum lines can I get rid off? And if there is already A thread or tutorial with pictures that would be great. I have done some searches but havent found one yet. I have alot of line missing and cracked and some plugged. I just wanna replace and reconnect only what I have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't know what the emissions control laws are like there, but if you plan on driving this on the road, or reselling it to drive on the road, or have to get emissions checks, you might want to check into this before disconnecting any vacuum lines. They pretty much have the bare minimum required as it is... Originally Posted by cherokee01

Well in VA we dont go through any emissins test. I can replace them no problem I just think its messing looking with all of them going everywhere. And the ones that are broken and missing are hard to find. And I have not found a good vacuum diagram to follow in tracing and reconnecting them.
Does it have to run when you're done or is it just going to be a lawn ornament? Why just stop at vacuum lines why not wiring too?
Strive for something like this:

(protip, the vacuum lines that are broken and missing is why it probably runs like ****)

Yes it has to run and it does run just fine. But just wanna clean up some things and fix some things while doing so. Im not building a show vehicle it will be driven daily just like it already is.

Does it go though emissions if it is sold? This would be the big one because the seller is responsible for all the emission systems to be in place and working correctly. But something to also remember is that sometimes the engine management system is tied directly to the emission control systems.Originally Posted by cherokee01

Not in this state that I know of. Im fixing it for me no plans to sell any time soon. I guess I will just buy some vacuum hose and reroute to make it cleaner under the hood. Going to start looking for some vacuum diagrams now.
