Remote unlock/lock on 90 cherokee?
i was wondering if it is possible to have a remote lock/unlock/panic on my older 1990 larado. It has power windows and locks. Is it easy to install?

i have been doing some more reasearch and many people have a black orb on their consol up above, and they say that black orb is for that keyless entry? I have one of those in mine, does this mean i can just take it to the dealer and they can make me one?

You should be able to do remote lock/unlock and panic with most basic alarms if you already have power locks. Perhaps even remote start if you have an automatic trans. If you have some electrical experience you should be okay. If you can't use a multimeter and a probe, and don't understand relays, then have a shop do it. Most shops will set you up with a basic alarm that has those features for anywhere form $99-$149 installed. Remote start will cost more. Don't let them blow smoke up your butt trying to sell you some "name brand" alarm that costs $250+. There was a time when there were some advantages to the higher priced units, but thanks to technology trickle down, they all have the basic features now.
I installed the following alarm with remote start and it works really well. The remotes are awesome, with metal housings. Installation was pretty easy as most of the required relays are built in to the brain instead of having to wire them up externally. It has TONS of programmable features. Took me about 3 1/3 hours to put in, but I've done a few before.
If you want to do it yourself, look at the following link for wiring info.

Here is site that, if you fill it out. Asking for your org. build sheet, they will e-mail it back in a few days. they will tell everything your XJ came with. http://www.jeep.com/wccsapp/universa...ull&category=U The key fobs for keyless entry are approx $130. If it don't come with it.

You can also go to your local Jeep dealership parts department and ask for it. Just give them the VIN. My '98 was originally sold in Fort Wayne, Indiana. My local dealership in Arlington pulled it up and printed out the build sheet in about 2 minutes.
