regearing to 4.10 or 4.56s? cant decide
I will toss my experience in...(87 two door, 4.0, manual trans)
My 4.10s on 31s sucked. It was waaay overgeared. First gear was absolutely useless on the street. And I always found myself wanting a 6th gear on the highway.
Then I went to 33s. And first gear got a LITTLE more useful, but IDK. It still feels a bit overgeared, but the power is nice.

with my experience, i would tell you to gear lower (4.88). I'm running 4.10s on 235/75s and an AW4 and i just love it. turn about 2500 rpms @ 70 mph, gives me excellent power and good fuel economy. with your ax15 though you could probably get away with 4.56, although i'd prefer the extra gear to compensate for the increase in rolling mass of the 35s. don't be afraid to rev that 4.0 on the highway
i ran 5.38s with my 35's.
absolutely loved it. put tons of miles on it, cruised at 70-75 mph for 32 hours at a time. got 15 mpg doing so as well in a fully loaded rig with wheeling and camping gear for 3 guys to survive a month.
if you already narrowed it down to 4.10s vs 4.56, then definately go for the 4.56s if we can't sway your mind to go a tad lower.

the gear calculator puts 4.56 above stock rpm for 33's Aw4. with added weight and wind resistance etc (the things the gear calc doesnt account for), would that pretty much put you back at stock rpm?
I'll want 34's or 35's in the future. that wont feel to bad will it?

I just regeared my jeep to 4.88 and I'm running 33's, soon to be 35's. Its awesome off road and on the highway. Gas mileage has gone back up to almost 17 on the highway.
