Default Rear Unloading Down Hill

I've got an issue with my rear unloading on down hills.

If I go to crawl down a ledge it always lifts a rear tire. I also nose dived it this weekend when the rear tire came up 2ft off the ground.

To me this isn't so much a down travel issue as it is the rear unloading. The only thing that has changed is my front setup where I only have 2" of up travel. Would this cause the front to stay high and the rear to lift?

What shackles are you running in the rear?

Gotta evaluate your rear suspension setup, but don't forget to think about your XJ's weight distribution also.

Does your Jeep sit level? Is your rear cargo area completely empty? Was the gas tank empty?

If the rear is significantly lighter then it's going cause some undesired side effects.

My jeep is stock and it unloads really bad when you touch the brakes going downhill. The have very light rear ends.

S-10 Bastard Pack still using XJ main leaf, Shackle Relocation Brackets, 1.5" Greaseable Shackles.

Rear sits at around 6.5" of lift, Front has 6"

Rear was empty with about 1/2 tank of gas.

I had the same issue running the relo brackets. I slung several u joints and have a hole in the floor from the drive shaft. I now run a centered limit strap on the rear. I still have a ton of travel but the entire rear can't drop out, just one side at a time. Made a huge difference. Still flexes like a spider monkey but doesn't drop out like it did before. I have a plate in the cargo area bolted through to another underneath that the limit strap attaches to. Simple truss on the axle for the other end.
