Is there a rear shock relocation kit or idea for the xj.we are in midst of doing a lift and my rear stock shocks have been welded on top as I assume it was the easy way out after previous owner snapped all the bolts on them. Going to cut the shock at the eye base or on either side of pin to get them out but I have to figure out how to get to the shoddy welds and grind/cut through without cutting up the whole floor mount. Any ideas on a relocation kit or ???

post some pics. it doesnt sound like you can use the factory bolt holes though. jks makes an adjustable cross over shock mount http://store.jksmfg.com/merchant2/me...ory_Code=Shock

If you are at all up to some fabrication, you could make that exact setup for about $25 and it's rather simple. PM me if you're interested and I will give you some dimensions.

Why not grind off the old welded post (the former owner put on), drill out the old shock bolts that broke off and just drill out and retap?

Well I got in there yesterday and managed to cut out one shock and the eyelet . Still have the welds up there . I will try to post oics today . Kinda not to computer friendly though. I appreciate all the tips guys . I'm thinking about leaving the welded ends on and just grinding them down smooth and welding that adjustable unit right overtop. Definately i'll take dimensions and can fab it myself. I have my kid working on the front so between teaching and learning its a bit of a slow process but this forum is great . A ton of people with amazing ideas. Thanx again

Thanx guys for all the help. I bought a shock remount kit by Zone. I cleaned up the welds best I could and had to weld these mounts on, pulled the orig shock pins and just use bolt through eyelet . Great system. Kit is in, kid is happy and i'm tired. Thanx again for all the help and once I can figure out how to post a pic I will . Cheers all!
