Rear shaft with double cardan and slip yoke?
So like the title says. The 98 I drive has a double cardan in the rear driveshaft. I thought this was normal until I was researching and read about rear shafts only having 2 u joints. So I looked under my 01,99,and other two '98's and they all have just a regular shaft with 2 joints. The one in question is not a front shaft. It's got the double cardan and slip yoke. Is this from a grand or something? Had two grands in the past but don't remember. I was going to swap driveshafts with one of my parts jeeps because the one in question is a little noisy under acceleration. Part two of my question is can the double joint be cleaned and reassembled with new u joints or do I need to rebuild it? This question applies to my front shaft as well because it has the chirping issue when it's cold out. The rear is just clunking.

Looks like my hack & tap with a front shaft. It cost me $70 for the parts to rebuild my double cardin. It too was chirping.

Defiantly not a front shaft, it has no compression/expansion part that allows for suspension movement.
That's something someone had made, I would go hack n tap with a front driveshaft over that

I'll have to pull it apart and see if the slip yoke is still there. I was assuming it was just because the boot is still on but idk for sure. So it's better to have the slip joint like the front shafts?

I could maybe see IF it was lifted and had lots of flex.
OP, is it lifted? What is it's normal usage?[/QUOTE]
It's lifted. I intend on hitting some trails and what not once I get it all straightened out. Here's my current setup. Lol
