Default Rear drive shaft c clip failure

This past weekend i installed a lunchbox locker in my front axle, when i took it for a test drive the REAR drive shaft u joint fell apart. i replaced the whole drive shaft with a different one and when we went out on the the trail the c clip near the REAR differential snapped. Thats three times in 24 hours. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Let me get this straight you put a locker in the front end and on a drive the rear drive shaft came apart you changed that and then a c clip broke , did you do any work to the rear end ?

Could you post some pictures of the parts you're talking about and the issues you're having? Idk if it's just me, but I'm having a hard time visualizing what you're talking about.

correct, i didn’t touch the rear end at all. when the rear drive shaft fell apart the first time it was the u joint near the transfer case.

When i swapped in the new drive shaft, i am now learning i may have not had it phased correctly. which might have caused the c clip to snap.

So the bolt for the u joint strap broke? The straps could've been stretched, the bolts could've been loose, the bolts could've been over tightened and stressed or there could be binding in the driveline and that was the weakest point.

rust, old bolt, over torqued. those bolts only need 14-17ft. lbs. Thus why they need blue lock tight. Ive seen tons of these wrenched down in there as if Thor tightened em.

You can get a new bolt and strap kit for your driveshaft at most auto parts stores.

Thank you for all the replies, i’ll go ahead and replace it making sure bolts are torque to spec and the drive shaft is properly phased.
