Raptor bed liner
#16
FWIW, I wouldn't paint that stuff on your bumper's. If you play offroad, it will come off. I compared several different bedliners together and found LINE-X to be the strongest. I had my bumpers done and had it sprayed on thick. After 2 years, I regretted the expense paid into it. I flat towed my TJ once and the inside of the tow points were rubbed to bare steel which caused it to rust and eventually bubble and peel a bit. It looked like crap and I couldn't fix it without paying through the nose. I was doing a rock course and came down pretty hard on my rear bumper, peeled a chunk of LINE-X off my rear bumper. Again, a very expensive fix.
I'm gonna do my XJ's bumpers different this time. Prep real good, then paint them with POR-15. This ensures that they will never rust. Then just spray them down with a rattle can of Dupi-Color Truck Bed Coating. If you scrape it, just spray over it again. Good as new, you will never know it happened. Key is all in the prep.
I still think that LINE-X is the best bedliner, just not worth the cost on exterior stuff like that. Now, if your gonna have body panels sprayed, that's a different story. If you rub that off on rocks, you have got bigger problems.

How much will cover?
How much will I need? monstaliner comes a quart size...will this be enough? I don't want to get the Gallon size due to the fact that if I mix it I have to use it. Its just a bumper. the raptor comes in 4 different bottles so i can mix what i need and save the rest for another job or touch ups (big selling point).
Also with the prep job...this will be my first painting project so I'm learning as I go here is a few more questions
-I plan on using self etching primer..is this a good idea? does the brand matter?
-I checked out the chassis saver and like the fact that it seals rust out...can I/should I use it with the self etching primer? do i need to sand the chassis saver or anything before applying the liner? also will 1 quart of the saver be enough? can i spray it?
Lots of questions but I want to do this right! thanks for the help.
