Puting 4.10 in a dana 30
So I have a 96 Cherokee and I want to put 4.10 gears in. Just wondering does a 4.10 kit have everything I need or do I need additional parts. I tried getting a 4 cyl axle but that was a fail every one I found was already missing the front axle but I need to get this done so any help is appreciated

You will need:
Gear sets, front and rear unless you have already swapped them.
Master install kit with shims and crush sleeve.
New carrier for the Dana 30 for 3.73 and numerically higher gears.

NO, In order to go to any gears over 3.55 you need a carrier, gears and install kit. You also need to gear the rear to match. If you have an 8.25 back there all you need is gears and a install kit, if D35 you also need a carrier.

Thanks for the response but I know this isn't true. That's why I was asking about 4.88 specifically since they seemed to be more of a rare find and thought they might not exist in thick gears. The whole point of thick gears is to reuse the smaller carrier. More typically for guys with a full case locker on the 3.72 and smaller carrier.
