Default Problem with a toggle switch.

Just wondering...when I ground the switch for my aftermarket fogs or anything that I use a lighted aftermarket switch for it starts smoking and i disconnect it right away. Its frustrating at night when i cant see my switch because it dosent light up. I tried this with multiple switches and its all the same.. Im not great at electrical wiring and ik that the chances of the problem being that im not doing it right are 99%. So can anyone tell me what im doing wrong? Thanks, Rob Also can i buy an OEM fog switch and use it for aftermarket fogs? The wiring looks a lot different though.

the switch probably isnt rated high enough for the amperage you are pulling..is it a toggle switch?

x2. The second you mentioned fog lights... you gotta have them on a relay controlled circuit, because the switches you are using arent rated for the power.

I have the relay hooked up and im even using the provided switch to test it and also several other 25+ amp switches, its not just for my fogs though. My strobe lights also have the same problem...
