Prepping My 4x4 Conversion
Currently have a 2wd 1998 XJ: 4.0, AW4, Chry 8.25 rear with 3.55 gears, aussie locker, etc.
Just picked up a 4x4 2000 XJ: 4.0, AW4, Chry 8.25 rear, Dana 30 front, 3.55 gears, NP231.
I have been reading the conversion threads here and on NAXJA, but I really want to make sure I don't forget anything. I would hate to be elbow deep in this swap and have to run to the JY or parts store every 5 min.
List of items so far: all necessary tools, new rotors and pads, input/torque converter seal, pan gasket/filter, cooler lines, trans cooler, trans fluid, gear oil, SYE, extra front ds, pb blaster, rtv.
Is there anything I am missing? Thanks for any ideas or experience. Can't wait to get this done!!!

Anyway, I don't see the new rear drive shaft on your list. Did you get the center console parts (The gateway)? What about the transfer case mounts?

Just curious, why don't you just buy yourself a 4wheel and trade the parts you want and sell the 2 wheel, prolly do it for free. . .

I would just put all the stuff from my 98 on the 4x4, but the new one is a real beater... It would take a small fortune just to pass inspection. And I love mine, we've had it since it was new and is in great shape. If the 2000 was in the same shape it might be a different story.
