Exclamation Pre 3" lift questions

1) what bolts should I PB blast?
2) What size bolts should I buy in case they break?

99 jeep xj, 3" RC series II kit with a t-case drop kit and Full leaf packs

anything else?
it comes on Wednesday

Here's all of them.

All 6 leaf spring bolts are: M14x2.0x120mm

The track bar bolt is: M10x1.5x75mm

LCA bolts are: M14x2.0mmx120mm

UCA bolts are: M10x1.5x110mm

Cross Member bolts are: 3/8"-24 (I think)

Where do you live?

Spray down the upper rear shock mount bolts really well.

Spray the nut-side of the bolt. But yeah if you live in the northeast like I do, start hosing down just about every single bolt you are going to remove. This being, leaf spring/shackle bolts, front and rear shock bolts, control arm bolts, axle u-bolts, track bar bolts, and any other you are going to encounter. Best of luck, sir. your upper rear shock bolts will break, also dont run a gay t case drop unless you have vibrations.... the point of lifting a vehicle is to get **** out of the way, not drop it back into harms way..

Well acording to people on this forum 3" lift on a 97+ always needs a t case drop

May go ahead and get brake lines from a tj. They are longer than stock just to make sure you aren't stressing them ( front two and rear 3way line). Just a thought if your under there ripping things apart anyway!

Yes, run a tcase drop or you'll have driveline vibes. I run a 1 inch drop with 6+ inches. Ran fine with 3, I vibrate now. Sye time!

Don't drop the tcase right away, my 98 is lifted 3 inches and has been for a couple years. The vibes are minimal and only happen from 25-35mph. If you lift it and have bad vibes, then drop the case or get a SYE.

First off, I won't have any vibes. Vibes = stress=breaking=money. Next I have a 242 and finding a sye is difficult

I had 4.5 in. of lift on the rear of my '98 & it had no vibes.With that said,every Jeep is different.Lift it first & if it needs it, do it.

You can do a hack n tap on the 242 & get a JY front D-shaft.Cost about $100.

Is it okay to use stock brake lines for a while?? Or will they absolutely not fit?

It's touch and go, most lifts require you to relocate the brake line, which in some cases is fine. I tend to er on The side of caution so I went ahead and put on yj lines to make sure. I think 25 or less shipped from rock auto for all three. Cheap insurance in my opinion…
