Default Power Inverter.

How many of you folks have one and how do you like it? I am thinking about pulling the trigger and buying one and have been doing some looking around but, I am not 100% sure which brand or size is best. Looks like the best way to run it is to hook it directly to the battery instead of using the lighter plug.

For you folks that do have one, where did you put it and how did you wire it up? Thanks

If you're looking for more power then you will need to wire it to battery, I bought a cheaper unit around $60 iirc with 2 plugs and is direct into cig lighter.. I had a mobile office and used it to for laptop and printer... worked okay but sometimes I'd have to leave my truck on to power both at the same time...

I was looking into buying a 10lb tank and parts to use as an air tank. Then I got to thinking about the inverter and using a air compressor (small) to air up tires and also to run my electric impact when needed on the trail. Plus it would come in handy for camping trips etc.

I have had a few different brands and they all worked. Get the biggest that you can afford. It's better to have more power than you need than to not have enough. For the things I run, I couldn't use one that hooks into the cig plug, so it's always straight to the battery for me.

if you go 3000w, you will need to run at least 2 identical batteries.

i have a 3000w that i'm waiting to install, also have an 800w that clips to battery that i've used for my electric impact with little effort.

Thanks Diesel, Scott and Caged.

I was looking at a Cobra 3000W for $99 and it's good to know that a duall battery set up is needed. I wouldn't have thought about needing to do that, so that is definitely good information! Thanks
