Is it possible to swap a 1999 XJ completely into a 1989 XJ?
It's time to find a new body, mine is rusting extremely fast (was a upstate PA vehicle). I have a decently modified 1999 XJ 4.0 auto with a 8.25 rear. I really like the look of the old jeep XJs. Is it possibly to swap all of my drivetrain and possibly interior into a 1989 or similar early XJ??

You can swap the whole doors, but i wouldnt. IMO early model doors are alot easier to take on and off when you make them removable. Just swap the mirrors.

they modified one or 2 of the dash board brackets on the firewall and the mounting brackets for the steering column between the pre 96 and 97 and newer models... nothing crazy difficult to do but just a note.
I've seen the newer doors on the older body style jeeps but i know they seal a little differently so some door seal work would also need to be done.
Also the seat brackets are different between 89 and 99, though the seats themselves can prolly swap between brackets no problem
