performance cam help!
i am about halfway through my first 4.0l rebuild. everything is off getting machined, and i took a look at the kit i bought for my rebuild and noticed that the cam i got is a performance cam shaft. which is only a good thing. except i cant seem to find out if i need to adjust anything in putting the new cam in.
the product number is
the product number is
Comp 68-232-4 .460/.476 Lift Camshaft
from what i understand it the smallest upgrade you can make in a cam.
do i need to change any valve spacing? or valve clearances or tollerances? i cant find any information on the subject, which leads me to think i dont need to. anyone have a clue?

you need to get new lifters if you don't already have them as they lifters wear into a cam and should stay with that cam....
But the lifters are hydraulic and are self adjusting so you shouldn't have any problems. there is no adjustment just a torque spec for the rockers.

Hey
I just build my stroker with exactly this cam.
First, good choice! it is the best and reliable cam which have been used from many stroker builder!
Secound, if you want to keep it reliable for the next 100.000 miles, you will need also new valve springs, retainer and keeper. The new cam will push the valves much faster and the springs shall be able to close them faster and to baer heavier forces from the cam. Also I recomment you to buy roller rockers, because the original "pressed steel sheet" design might not be able to take the force for an long time.
Push rods and valves are no issue. DON'T go for Pro comp springs!!!
This you need:
12 Valve springs: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-5249464/
Mopar Performance P5249464
12 Valve spring retainers: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-4452032/
Mopar Performance P4452032
12 Valve keepers: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-4529218/
Mopar Performance P4529218
This you schould have:
12 Roller Rockers. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CSP-S40196/

has anyone run this cam in California and been able to pass a smog check?
I am building my 4.7 now and this seems to be the only cam i can find with a chance of passing a smog check.
thanks

I have no expiriance with the smoke test in California, but I checked the O2 measure from my 4.7 and it was better then the 4.0 with 80k on it. What they measure there CO2? O2?
