I so far have this list what else should I add
NEW rear drums

Front wheel bearings

Front Hubs

Axle U joints

Steering for sure at least a mid 90's V-8 Grand Cherokee tie rod setup under a $100 for the 3 pcs.


Gears a must have 4.56 min and 35's call for a 4.88 gear to bring it back to a stock ratio. Then a speedometer gear change.


You need to do some searching here on that subject its not quite that easy to do right not knowing what size tires your starting with.

Gear ratio I doing next month along with a locker doing 4.88
Really looking to know if that everything that needs replacing after a lift given my lift has been in almost a year now

Only reason I am saying this is recently my front brake drivers side locked up so I said f it replace everything all at once

FYI.
A common cause of front brakes sticking, the pads ride on perches and wear a groove in them, groove restricts pads from releasing.
Also, consider the disk brake upgrade on that 8.25

If doing lockers might as well do both together, as it is the same cost when changing gears to add them.


You do have the right wheels already right? You need a 15x8" with 3.75" of BS for a 35x12:50x15" tire, don't use a 10" wheel if you ever plan on off roading and air down the tire's they will pop of the rim.

Yup rims are that spec and doing lockers

Also didn't mention have one ton steering already

For a dd on 35"s 4.56 is a better choice that's what most of the people around me are running. I have 4.88s and there is a considerable difference in rpm at speed but mine is just a toy

I'm on the other side of this.. I regeared to 4.56 while running 35's, now I'd rather 4.88's (if I would do it again) especially if your gonna tow anything, have lots of hills in your area, or load your XJ full of gear.


I've got bumpers, winch, spare tire, crap load of gear in my rig & 4.88's would give me a bit more torque/power.


** Be sure to have a good HD track bar, think about frame stiffeners, I get a lot of shimmy & shakes at certain speeds with my 35's. If you're gonna wheel it hard, I'd recommend a truss for the D30. I replaced/upgraded all my bushings on the D30 too..

I got 4.88's on my locked Dana 44 front. I trust it more than I would a Dana 30 because the 4.88 pinion are so small on it

I agree with that but his is a DD and will not see HD off road, so I think the small pinion won't be a big issue JMHO. In turn I am running 33's and 35's both with a 4.56 gear and not a big issue but mine is mostly a toy and "not" a DD.
