Default over heating issues

i have a 95 cherokee 5 speed manual lifted 4.5 inches and i never have overheating problems untill im on my way home from a wheeling trip. any help?

this is a good one, done this before. also check to makesure you didnt get so much dirt in the air filter that the engine has to work harder to run. is your fan clutch wearing out, if so then a hard day of wheelin will make it nice and loose enough to effect cooling. also check your radiator fluid (when cold) and make sure you dont have any gunk in it. i like to take the cap off and start the motor. watch the coolant and make sure it is not bubbling up when it gets up to operating temp.

looked and there isnt much mud, but that will all be cleaned out and i will try those other suggestions, thanks guys

hi, i have another 89 xj and it's over heating , it has a new radiator,water pump,termostat 185 dgre, 2 electric fan . i thought it was the head gasket but it has the same problem,i have tried everythign but i cant find what the problem is does someone know what it could be . thank you.

Make sure you are full on oil and coolant

mine was just mud packed in the back side of the radiator. hope this helps
