Old Man Emu Lift: Discuss
I am considering putting a 1.5" - 2" lift on my TJ as I would like to put on 30" tires. In doing a search on lifts I have learned that the lifts in this range are typically referred to as "budget lifts". While I am interested in this size lift as described above, I also am keenly aware how important the suspesion is and would like very good to excellent on and off road performance. So I came across Old Man Emu kits which are considerably more in price than a "budget lift". Anyone have an Old Man Emu lift or familiar with them to comment. Considering my basic criteria, what quality alternatives might I consider. Thanks.

I've had the OME 1.5-2" medium duty on my XJ for about 2 years now, i like it but i cheaped out and didnt get the OME shocks. bad idea, it rides pretty stiff which i think would be much smoother with the OME nitros. when i have a trailer, stuff on roof rack and the back end fully loaded (rear seat down) it rides real nice with no sag

I have OME 1 1/2- 2 lift with shocks. 30-9.50x15 on black rock rims. Rides stiffer than stock, but I like it. Ex-wife says that it is too high too get in. She is 4'11". I might go higher later. "Lift it high - Fat girls can't jump"

personally I can't justify the cost... I would rather get some rusty's HD springs up front ans dreavers in the rear... might be about the same cost, but ride better and flex like crazy
however you are not shooting for that much lift...
in your case I would throw a spacer in the front and shackles in the rear and be done with it

OME is an ARB product. ARB makes dope ****. Granted, at 2-2.5" it's not the most lift for your buck, but I feel that would be more than made up for in quality. The last post about lifting by using individual parts would work too. Just be aware of other steering and driveline components you will have to upgrade..

I've got rustys coils up front with Rc shocks and shackles, rides decent gave me about 2 1/4 total lift and it only ran about $350 total. I will be switching to ome shocks next year though.

Running OME Heavy Duty went cheep also on the OME by not getting shocks. Next year after I blow up my Rancho's definitely getting OME shocks there comparable to Rubicon's and BDS. Personally I have gotten a ride with OME shocks. They kick the crap out of Rough Country, Skyjacker, and Teraflex. Only thing nicer is Fox Racing Shocks lol expensive. I got about 2.75 lift with the full suspension. You can easily throw 30s under it. My only complaint about the whole kit is they didn't include new U-bolts that's extra. For a small lift they are the best company to buy from but alot of people like 4.5" and up. This is the kit I am running right here Heavy Load. http://www.quadratec.com/products/76090_80X_PG.htm

Too funny. My wife is not fat rather she is on the tall side with long legs, so I doubt she would have a problem and I like having her around. Now if it were my ex, I'd take your advice. Thanks for the OME input.
