When I bought my 1998 Cherokee, it had hit a brick wall in the passenger front end (just bent the bumper and popped of the fender flare.) I took the bumper off and saw there was a plug for light. Is this for driving/fog lights? And if so where can I get a harness to split it into two for two lights.

Yeah XJs with overhead consoles had a thermometer in them. Ambient temp = outside temp.

So does that means say I could go to the junkyard and get an overhead console from a XJ or ZJ and it would work?

Here is a link to the sensor. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/mopar-a...4688204ab.html

You would need the rest of the wiring to install the console but if you found one at the jy the wiring would probably be there also. There are some write ups on how to do it. IMO I think Jeep just installed the sensor plug to make it easier to add the overhead console option.

I've stubbornly come to the conclusion your right, I was really hoping you weren't though (nothing personal) I just really like the idea of already having a wiring harness down there. So that said is there any way to use the ambeint temperature thing for wiring to lights or anything else I want to install, I'm guessing its not even worth fooling with it.

Hah sorry man. About using that as any type of harness unless someone with a good knowledge of electrical wiring chimes in I would say its not even worth the damage you might cause.
