I am considering swapping my np242 out for a np231. Will the np231 bolt right in or do I need other parts? Also what wiring will I have to do to make sure the 4x4 dash lights still work?

 

as i understand its a direct swap. the wiring is largely the same it just depends on the male to female connection on the TC, late model were a little different on the 242.

 

You will need the shift gate, shift bezel, and TC Switch connector from the 231 donor vehicle to make everything work properly.

And then PM me and I'll buy your 242 stuff (minus the TC). It's hard to come by locally.
