Yea looks like hydro turf. I thought about using that on mine as well but it gets a little pricey and a pain to put down. Looks good though.

Ok... So I just literally ordered 2 huge light to do this. They are differant, but should work similarly. Spring break starts the 12th, So I will have to do this then, and get some pics...

Thanks again for this awesome idea.

I just got these lights in the mail today, so I am going to put them in... hopefully sunday. I can't wait to turn them on the first time. I will put the wires they hook up to on my next post. They will be whatever colors are in my 88.

in VA there was laws concerning how bright light can be inside, 15 candlepower if I remember correctly.

the way the law sees it if you turn on light & it is too bright inside, you lose ability to see good while driving, like being in a bright store & trying to see the parking lot. never heard of anyone being pulled, but just a thought. plus think before you brighten inside too much. like a friend that camped in his van, had an inverter, & turned on 2 household lamps, with 60 watt bulbs, you couldnt see out the windows, unless you got close to window, but people could see in until he pulled curtains. I cant imagine what would happen if someone turned on the house lights while driving.

also years ago, you could buy colored bulbs, not sure if still available? one of my friends got some, & turned it on for his gf to see something while he was driiving & a cop saw & he got popped for having blue lights, went to court & lost. yes he bought blue interior bulbs for dome light, & had 2 aux blue bulbs on an overhead console, so yes inside was quite blue. dumb move for him.

^ wierd. I guess like inpersonating a cop possibly?

With mine, I am keeping the front dome light wired is an well, the stock one. But i Never use my light when driving, Just like i never use my cell phone. I see it as just one more distraction. When I am looking at a pizza box to double check an address, and i am driving, i wait for a red light where there are other car lights and street lamps to see.

I just use the dome light when I am parked. And it would be nice to be able to make sure that I got all the groceries. But I clearly see the safety hazard you are talking about, and I think we can all appreciate that info just based on the fact that we may have never even thought about those consequesnces of flipping a switch.

Ok, just got done with the install of these kaper 2s. They are strange in that the black wire is the positive, the green is the negative and white is auxilary something or other.

So here is a list, first column is Kaper lighting, second column is jeep wire color, at least for my 88.

FRONT LIGHT:

Black-------------Red
Green------------black with white line
White------------Taped up, not used.

REAR DOME LIGHT:
Black------------Red
Green-----------black with white line
White-----------Gray wire.

I did a modification to the front dome light, allowing the use of the 2 front map lights from the original housing. I will post pics tomorrow, but this was a very easy install, although slightly rigged due to the rigging i did on the originals, but these are amazing.
