Hey guys, so long story short, I have a 1995 cherokee and I am planning on doing the highly debated taurus fan install.
I have a 160 amp durango alternator I will be swapping in for the juice, but I am primarily concerned with the routing of the belt since a lot of guys have issues with squealing because of lack of contact or something like that from what I understand.
So this is my current pulley layout:
And this is what I have been thinking of doing:
So to do this I would need to first convert my jeep to the 1996.5+ power steering setup which is good anyway since I could end up running a WJ steering pump. But the benefit would be the idler below the steering pump so that I could get this better angle for the alternator pulley by running the belt from the water pump to the alternator. Then I would add an idler to the top mounting point of the alternator and delete the mech fan pulley altogether.
Questions I have for you taurus fan dudes is... has this already been done? Can't find too many threads on rerouting the pulleys like this. Another question is if you think it would be enough room for the taurus fan with the belt routed like that?
Welcoming all advice!
