New to light bars and wanting to get one
I am looking to get a light bar on my XJ. I have never had one, and I love how bright they are. I am actually probably going to buy one for my RZR as well.
What size is everyone going with, in the 40-50" range, where are you mounting it, and what brackets are you using? I plan on getting one off amazon that has decent reviews as far as the light bar itself. My whole jeep is raptor lined in black, so I don't think glare will be a big issue.

Look at the ip rating if its ip67 pass on it only get one ip68.If you want to mount it to the roof http://www.farmerjohnsonoffroad.com/...ay-sale-price/ http://hooliganoffroad.com/t/xj http://www.omcoffroad.com/apps/webst...s/show/5449824 http://www.inspired-engineering.com/...Code=IE-v2xj50 http://detoursusa.com/led-head.php And also look in your state laws about light covers and how many you can have uncovered. Some brands of light bars offer covers some don't and im not sure if they are one size fits all or not.

If you aren't familiar with IP ratings, read up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code
The difference between IP67 and IP68 is that 7 can be submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes, while 8 can be submerged from 1-3m (testing depth determined by manufacturer) indefinitely.
Realistically, IP67 is fine if you're looking for a budget light, especially on the roof. Personally, I have a 30" Aurora light bar on my YJ. It's a Chinese company that reverse engineered Rigid lights (some of the best in the industry, but way outside my budget) and sells them for about half price

Cool! This is information I was not aware of! How is everyone getting the wires to the cab and mounting it to the roof? Drilling holes and using gromets I am guessing? Not too found of doing that, but I suppose that is about the only way to do it isn't it?
I am really liking the looks of this one

I found where I could add the relay harness to that light for another 16 bucks, and was going to get that too. Thank you for the help everyone. I believe that I am going to get the one in my previous post!

I run this, Its stupid bright and have yet to have any issues with it.
Amazon.com: OPT7® C2 Series: 50" Off-Road CREE LED Light Bar and Harness - Flood/Spot Auxiliary Lamp Combo (28800 lumen): Automotive
As far as mounting I use the brackets it came with and just drilled holes through my roof. It comes with everything you need, harness, light, mounting brackets, and switch. I ran my wires into the car through the same grommet that the main harness goes in, and the switch is hidden behind my 4wd shifter. Trending Topics

I got mine off Ebay for $103 shipped to me. It came with the mounts & wiring harness. It's a 40 inch with a ip68 rating.
