Have the straight 6 in my XJ with stock gears I think they are 3.55 ratio and my buddy had bought some 4:10 and decided to go with 4.55 so he hooked me up with the 4:10'a pretty cheap. I run a 33x12.50 15 tire how much will the 4:10's help and will it help on my gas mileage or make it worse?

How are you planning to use your XJ. DD or mostly off road? Sounds like its your DD right?

Not my DD I have a new truck but I usually drive the XJ around town sometimes. Just when I'm not going very far but I wheel it lightly usually not to hard. The front axle is locked so I do what I can with it

4:10's will be an improvement over 3:55, what tranny do you have? Standard or auto? If its more of a wheeler then any thing else I would look into getting
4:56-4:88's. Also what rear end do you have? You might want to look into getting a new one if you have a Dana 35 BEFORE you go for a gear change.
