Default New cherokee build

Hello everyone, yes i am new to this site and well honestly new to jeeping and a soon to be new cherokee owner. Well heres the low down. Prolly like most of you on here i am on a super tight budget. I currently am selling my '97 tj for $2500. Theres my budget. Lol. Anyways i am soon to be getting a either 89 or 90 2 door cherokee sport for like $300. Its not running right now, and from what ive been told by the guy who owns it the front steering linkages need to be rebuilt. I want to make this a thread that is continuously is updated as i do work. So in all honestly what is you guys's opinion on what i should do first. See i was thinking instead of buying all new parts for the front end just putting a lift kit and rebuilding the whole thing soon. i want to make this jeep a offroad weekend warrior everyday driver. I plan on running 31's and 4.5" of lift. What you guys think. Inputs are so needed.

Do a little diagnostic on the engine to see what it needs. Inspect front suspension for what needs most attention.
