Default New Build questions

Hey Im new to this forum as a member but have checked it for years with questions.

I have an 87 Xj that I have owned for 10 years. Its mainly off road use arouind the hunting lease and to town for supplies at hunting camp. I have had a 4" on it since I got it. I recently was given an 8.5" setup almost complete. I sold the 4" and am installing the 8.5" on 35's.

A few questions for the guys that have this setup. I know Ill need the new drive shaft and SYE for the rear. Possibly shims for the rear end?

Im concerned with the front drive shaft. Will it need any mods?

Also, do I need the TC drop kit? I have heard these can put stress on motor mounts and a few other issues. Ill install it if its needed but is it with the SYE and new rear drive shaft?

Thanks!!

You say that you were given an 8.5" setup that is almost complete... What all did it come with? Going long arm?

There are many things you'll need to address. Shocks, control arms, track bar, brake lines, sway bar links, driveline (SYE), steering angles, bumpstopping...

And you should also plan on regearing

Everything mentioned is on my punch list. The only items I didn't get we're shocks, and brake lines. A few other odds and ends I'm sure I'll come across. SYE and drive shafts are priorities now so I can move it around under it's own power.

Gears are for sure but I'll be paying someone to do those.

Any info on the front drive shaft would be great. That's the

Gears are for sure but I'll be paying someone to tackle that. The only thing worrying me as of today is the front drive shaft angle with the 8.5" kit.

You may need a longer front shaft, but because of the design of the front shaft you shouldn't have to mess with the pinion angle.
