Default Need some help with installing a radio.

Hey buds, new xj96 classic owner here. I am fixing things as I go and have worked my way up to the head unit. I pulled it today to find no antenna wire. I understand this is a weird leap year for xjs so some things are for 95s and some for 97s. It's not a power antenna and I can't imagine someone would have a good reason to yank it... Or would they?

I could also use a diagram if anyone has one handy, thanks!

The antenna may be hiding deeper in the radio cavity. Also, it has a connection behind passenger kick panel that connects it to exterior antenna.
Here is a link to wiring descriptions, next best thing to a diagram. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay...tail/1210.html

How hard is it to remove an antenna? I mean if you can pull it out of the fender easy enough you can determine if the antenna wire is attached to it still and do what SteveMongr said and keep fishing for it because it is probably in there somewhere.

Reporting back.

This was correct, reached in and it was way down in there for whatever odd reason lol. I feel bad for the previous owner. I got the Jeep 99k miles for a steal because nothing worked and I've managed to get the power windows/locks/mirrors and now radio working over the course of 10 days and $0 out of pocket.

Gotta love the Jeep forums!

Yep, there are people who are just not good at exploiting the resources at their disposal. Good job getting all that stuff sorted.
