I am not being able to use the door lock functions or anything else on the remote at all. I tried to reprogram the system but the LED indicator light does not even flash to confirm the channel you are programming. I have a Valet 561r system, it was in the XJ when i got it. I dont think it ever really worked right. I have changed the battery and that was some help until now. It seems like it is completely dead. I found 2 fuses but they are both fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Some basic troubleshooting things to check:

Good ground? A bad or loose ground will cause problems. You can use a meter to do a continuity test to see if your ground is good.

12 volts? Basic stuff here. A fuse can look good but be bad. Use a volt meter to check for 12v.

How's the battery in the car? New? Old?

Its kinda hard to to troubleshoot over the internet, but I hope this points you in the right direction.
