Default My clock spring broke...

Well my clock spring broke. They are around 65 used to 150 new. Should I replace my clock spring or replace the wheel with a grant and put a push button horn on the dash?

Fix it right and be legal. If this is a trail only rig, go for the Grant wheel.

There is nothing illegal about putting a horn button on the dash. Or at least there isn't here in MN. If its that much to replace just the spring you could get a whole column from the junk yard cheaper.

If i knew what year you jeep was then i would say just skip replacing it and put the horn on the dash or buy a grant steering wheel. If it has an airbag and your state does inspections then you might have to replace it.

Illegal to tamper with or disconnect an airbag that was factory installed in most states.

Well it depends on the year of the jeep and the state they live in. Only states that care are one that do strict inspections like CA

Hey fellas. I asked around and people said that you can remove the airbag. Its considered supplement safety. How true is this, Im not sure. So take ti with a grain.

My jeep is a 97 and has cruise, but I'll never use that.

Federal government mandated driver airbags in all vehicles in 1999 but depends on what state you live in. Like bustedback said, its probably illegal to tamper with airbags. I dont know for sure because i live in MI and they dont give a s*** what you drive

it is illegal to disable your airbag system.but you can get a waiver if you have a severe medical problem that requires the disconnection of the air bag system. you call the NHTSA at 1-800 424 9393 for more info.in other words don't do it unless it is trail only off road rig.

Get one out of an XJ in your local junkyard. It the cheapest route and if you remove it from the donor Jeep and install it in your Jeep then you know it's a good one.
