My 4.6 stroker build
Hey guys. Thought i would share this build over here too.
I bought a 97 XJ all done up with headers, lift, exhaust, k&n, upgraded ignition, alarm system, HID's, the list goes on.
The big problem was the engine had a knock.
Picked it up for $1500
Here is the 4.6 stroker build pictures.
I get all parts from my machine shop AT cost and a low labor price since i personally know him. It's getting bored .030 so all new pistons and the stroker kit comes with a cam. I'm paying about $1200 for everything.
It is at the machine shop now and will be done this week sometime.

More to come this weekend!

Well i worked all night and been up all day.
The plan was to go pick up the head around 8am but as always nothing goes as planned! We got to the machine shop and he still had to surface the head and he was still in the middle of another engine
So after a few hours of waiting it was done and we got it home and had a couple hours to get started. So far we only have the crank installed as you can see.
This is what got done today. Hopefully we have significant progress tomorrow.

The crank is brand new.
The machine shop got it so i don't know what one it is.
Everything inside the motor is brand new from the pistons to the head bolts.
I have less than 1800 into this motor. Let's just say that i know people that know people. lol
It's complete. We need more paint but it's ready to drop in Thursday of Friday.

When you pulled that piston with the broken skirt, did it leave any damage to the cylinder wall?
Just picked up a WJ with same issue, hoping i can measure and rehone the cylinder without having to resort to a machine shop.

Well....After almost 2 months it's finally done.
I have always loved the 97+ Cherokee's. I now own one with a 4.6 stroker.
I have came in just under $4,000 . That includes buying the Jeep too!
It runs and it runs really smooth

Hey guys, there are cars down under called Valiant Chargers, Made in Australia from 1971- 1979 They used a 245 CID and 265 CID motor from Chrysler which I'm pretty sure is the same as the 4.0L jeep, I know the porting is different on the Heads but I'm pretty sure the Short block is the same. Just for the conversation these motors came from the factory in several different specs the stock 245cid had 218hp with a 2barrel carb the top spec was called the E49 option, had tripple weber side drafts and had 302 hp FROM the factory, would be interesting to see if they would drop straight into a XJ ?? Just some info I though I would share, Cheers Leon (NZ)
