for the price he's getting this pair of axles you can't even fully build a D30. a few dollars in axel bracketry and some time swapping, you've got a mean little build I'd run it on 35's all day

the only question I had was how they narrowed the D44 and then put f250 shafts in it. Aren't the f250 shafts full width made for a 69.5" wide axle?

The 70s f250 dana 44 is 68 inches if i remember right,The point i was making the money the swap total its gonna cost him he could build up whats hes got now.A grand for the axles plus all the mounting tabs plus the steering and probably a custom track bar.And if you throw in two driveshafts things start to add up faster then you think.

Why does this post have so much hate in it? Op people are jealous they didn't get 2 "locked" axels with that much work done to them for your price. This is awesome can't wait to see it.

LOL, Thanks. I appreciate the constructive criticism that I have received from a lot of people. It has made me think through a lot of things going into this. I am not that worried though because I am going to have the help of 2 VERY Experienced Rock Crawler Builders.

I am also a different kind of person. I am all about what is tried and true and the motto of K.I.S.S. and If it aint' broke, don't fix it. But When I am presented with a situation where there is nothing wrong with doing it a different way and the means are available, im going to do it that way. I painted my own rig, I Re-did the Entire Wiring Harness of the Vehicle, and built a custom sub box w/o any directions (used to do 12 volt work for a living so that does not really apply), just going of my own experience, They all turned out great.

But yeah, I think some people are just a little Jelly they didnt get Built axles for $1k. LOL

still doesn't make sense, if f250 dana 44's had the longest axle shafts they would never fit in a narrowed d44. I should probably watch the video and figure it out for myself

but you can't even polish a D30 for $1000. the axles probably came with steering. if the additional cost is time + mounting brackets and a rebuilt driveshaft or two, you're sitting pretty. OP is gonna come in way under budget compared to some of these D30/8.25 builds

UPDATE: 03/21/2016

So I got the pictures of the Axles and wheels they come with in the vehicle they are coming out of. Vehicle is a Nissan Pathfinder. Ohh and the tires are being sold to me for an extra $400 for 4 and a spare.... So yeah... They have about 70% tread

Just watch the episode they explain what they use and why. I personally love that show and they do some cool builds.

To OP grats on the score it is a pretty sweet deal IMO.

I think initially it was wheels w/o tires. So now he's buying the tires at $400.
