Okay, so when I bought this jeep it came with a Cherry Bomb brand "Flowmaster" exhaust. I'm not sure how that works but you get it. I've never been a fan of the regular looking muffler that's "supposed" to sound better. I'm running stock HO headers, stock down pipe and full length 2.5 inch pipe. Any way I can get it to sound good, instead of a coked up weed eater running on jet fuel? TIA

All my buddies think it's cool to run either straight pipes, open headers, or a cherry bomb with a side dump. I don't like it. It's loud, yes. Cool for a wheelin rig, but if that's not what you're looking or then i would do headers (if you could afford them), new down pipe, high flow cat, nice sounding muffler, and maybe some kind of opened up air intake.

Alright cool. It had a side dump but all the people that went to get into the back seat burned the hell outta their legs cuz of where it was mounted lol. So I piped it back but it's still doesn't sound to well. I'll look into all that tho, thanks!

What're you looking for? Loud, mean, aggressive or more of a subtle rumble with a nice growl? My jeep is a DD so I don't want super loud. My exhaust is actually 100% stock. I'm going to do a flow master 50 when I need to though.

I want a good, agressive sound when I get down on it but a nice rumble at highway speed. Idle sound usually doesn't matter to me.

On my last Jeep which was a daily driver I had a 2.5” glasspack as a resonator with a 2.5” dynomax turbo muffler. Nice rumble but not too loud with minimum drone on the highway.
Still love the way our team's race Jeep sounds with a turbo and small resonator.

[QUOTE=XJlimitedx99;2889589]Buy a flow master 40. That's a good cheap start to get some sound[/QUOT
The 40 works for me. No drone at highway speeds. But some guys complain about every aftermarket muffler. For them there is stock. I like to know when the motor is running.

I like my flowmaster 44 with about 3ft of pipe behind it dumped right behind the axle its still loud (no sound deading anywhere on my jeep) but its alot better than the straight pipe or flow master 44 side dumped by the rear seat

The only reason id prefer a flow master 50 over a 40/44 is because I've never been a huge fan of super loud vehicles. They're cool sometimes, but is prefer to not draw the attention to myself (like when I'm coming home in the middle of the night, or creeping through a trail that's in aomebody's back yard). Some people complain that the 40/44's drone, but it's all personal preference really. One is not better than the other. Whatever you do, make sure to keep your tail pipe or else it WILL drone, bad.

You guys all have suggestions for different exhausts but I wanna see some header suggestions. I'm running a super 44 right now. But I want a little more power and a moderate price. Any personal experience with any good headers?
I got an Ebay exhaust header and it's doing just fine. I put a flex joint after my downpipe in front of the muffler and that's supposed to help prevent header cracking. Flex joint was only $10 or so. Then i've got the Flowmaster Super 44 run out the side right in front of the rear tire. I wouldn't say it's a drone but its a bit louder than a stock exhaust. I think it sounds really good.
