This seems like a stupid question to have to ask on here, but I can't seem to find the answer online and I searched so here it goes: What is the lug nut or wheel stud size/thread pitch for a 1999 jeep cherokee. I am looking to buy cheap spacers from ebay and am unsure of what size wheel studs I need them to include.

i read newer rubicon jeeps had longer wheel studs to acomodate alloy wheels.
i have aftermarket wheels on my xj and lug nuts are barely grabbing any thread...

 

I see this listed a lot but they dont put what size socket you need to put them on and remove them.. As a total non-mechanic, turning wrenches is a new hobby since I purchased a Jeep and I have found that either 19mm or 3/4 inch sockets work to take these off, but I had a couple rusted ones and wanted to buy nice new shiny ones, and went to AutoZone and got a pack of 1/2"x20 that looked just like what I have, took them home, and the 19mm socket wont fit over them, they're just a dash too big. what gives?

I want to get some from quadratec, the Gorilla ones, but I have alloy rims so I think I need the 60 degree cone so it sits properly in the rim, but I'm confused on the whole bulge vs taper vs acorn thing. What size socket are these? http://www.quadratec.com/products/92806_100X_PG.htm

19mm is just a hair smaller than 3/4 (.05mm) but a 3/4 might work for you. Or they might just be some cheap overseas product where spec means nothing to them.
Taper is the 60*, bulge i'm guessing is where the nut meets the taper and acorn is the covering on the end of the nut (sealing the threads)

 

so the stud is how long.......?

 

looking at rockauto i'm seeing 1 5/8" for a 99 front

either way, if you're that short on threads where you're only grabbing a few of them i'd def be looking at replacing with longer ones

 

1/2"-20 UNF. Select an "Acorn" seat if they give you a choice (that's the funky ball/tapered end that helps to centre the wheel on the studs, in addition to the hub hole. And, it gives rather positive location and retention.)

i just threw on my McGard's....13/16" socket fit perfectly

 

Super crazy late but newbie here🤷🏼‍♀️. I have super duty wheels on my XJ with an adapter and it’s barely holding any thread. I went wheeling and on the way home my lug nuts backed themselves out and my wheel came off. Did you ever fix or find a solution for the lug nuts being so short ?

 

The solution would be longer studs or a better quality adapter. Also make sure you're using the correct lug nuts for the wheel. Some wheels need flat, mag style lugs with a higher torque instead of the conical style that Jeep uses.
