Default Low speed shutters and shakes

This has been driving me nuts over the past few weeks. So I installed an SYE in my np231 and used an xj front shaft in the rear. I have a Dana 35 axle with stock gears and a 30 upfront. I run 31x10.50's w/3 inch lift. Under normal driving conditions she rides smoother than ever. but for some reason, going from 5 mph to a dead stop the whole rear end shakes and shutters is the best way i can describe it. If i cruise around a parking lot at say parking lot speed the problem persists untill I speed up then it goes away. Any suggestions? I thought it might be my pinion angle but I just put in 4* degree shims a few nights ago and they didnt help at all. I'm hoping that my ring and pinion around worn. also 201xxxmiles....is bad ring and pinion common?

I'd bet the tires are cupped.

What condition re your tires in?

agree with lowrange2...kl71's are pretty chunky too, could be a little lug slap.

I actually hucked the kl71 a few months ago. Now I'm running good year duratracs. they probably only have 10k on em or so. I've alway thought they have been good in terms of wear. I'll go check them here in a few minutes.

just checks, all 4 tires are at 35psi on the nose. and no signs of cupping or bad wear. Could lug slap really cause the whole rear end to shake thought?

It could but it'd have to be extreme. I've seen it in the front with cheap Mud tires.

Hmmm, this is one of those issues where I'd have to be there... It's sort of difficult to picture what's going on.

Anything that'd be worn should cause it to be just as bad at speed than while creeping. It only does it on pavement? Does it do it on grass?

Believe me, I know how hard it is to diagnose a noise over/issue over the internet Unfortuneatly I don't live near any grass to be able to test it properly. I've been wheeling a few times with it and it is just too hard to say. I'm just baffled because the axle bearings are next to new, pinion angle is correct, driveshaft and u-joints are fine. Maybe my LSD is biting the dust?
