I am looking to temporarily convert my 1990 4 X4 Jeep Cherokee with 4.0 to 2wd. While i rebuild the transfer case.what size drive shaft do I need and what end cone do I need? Thanks. I forgot to mention it is a 2 door.

Hoping the original poster is still here.... So you got away with using the original D35 drive shaft when connected to the D44?

if OP is not here.....Does anyone else know if the original length D35 XJ (2 door) drive shaft will work on a factory level XJ when the rear is swapped to a D44 (also from an XJ) even though the D44 'nose' is about an inch longer? When I did my D35/D44 swap, I used a drive shaft out of an 8.1/4 rear end (I think) which is slightly shorter than the original D35 shaft (my springs were sagging and I was worried the original D35 shaft was too long). Now I'm going to fix my sagging spring problem with new original height leafs and wondering if I should put the D35 shaft back in since the 8.1 shaft is going to seem even shorter (with the lift back to normal, the drive shaft will have to further to go to reach the D44). Ideally, I'd like to have more of the drive shaft spline 'in' the slip yoke - as long as it's not going to bind. With the springs in their currently 'sacked out' condition, if I hold the D35 shaft up to the installed D44 shaft it looks like the D35 will just fit - although it has to move in to the slip yoke enough to allow the U-joint to clear the diff yoke - but new spring will give it more clearance -but I'm worried about what suspension travel will do to that clearance.
