Default Longer Wheel Studs

I bought some aftermarket 18 inch rims for my XJ
Threw some 33 inch Toyo M/T's on and headed straight for some dirt. Drove it back to the shop and guess what? My jeep was disgusted at the thought of 18 inch rims and threw the back left one right off. Bought me a new drum, and yea, i guess these rims are pretty thick. Where, or what studs can i use that have more threads (im 99% sure that we didn't put enough of the lug on the threads.)
Let me know what you think, and no, I don't need anyone to remind me of my stupidity.

I think that if you buy studs for a ZJ they will be longer. Since the ZJ has disc brakes, the rotor hat is also thicker, requiring longer studs. I just don't know how much longer they are or how long you will need...

Go to an autoparts store and buy some correct length studs and nuts to fit the wheels.

Trial and error, but I got it. .001 inch is a big difference I've learned.

If your studs are now only .001" longer I hate to say but they aren't long enough, if the wheels fell of before having .001" more thread engagement isn't going to cut it

Do you own a tape measure. Measure the length of the current studs add to that the extra length you need for your wheel and go buy them. Too long is good too short is bad. long can be cut off. You need 1/2" thread studs.

Haha sorry for the confusion, no my studs that I got were 3/8 longer, but i tried ones with .001 bigger spline/knurl on them, and they refused to go into my axles. they are uber long, and hopefully I can still use my stock tires with the length.
The tire that fell off decided to get all cut up on the pinch weld, so they became strictly wheeling tires

Some photos for funsies

USE LONGER STUDS OR THIS COULD BE YOU \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

the fronts I used were .619. They went on well
stupid parts store old man gave me .625 on the rear.
Went back and got some .620 and they worked fine.

They just dont (correct me if im wrong, I looked around) make longer studs without a little bigger knurl (.001-.002)

The variance in knurl size is amazing from stud to stud of the same part number, chances are that .001 is half the variance of what they really are anyways.

Believe me, it's probably more like plus minus .005. I work with this stuff every day, although orthopedic not automotive.

:BS: I measured every one mine. They were exactly what they said. Even my old studs registered .618

What did you measure it with? I'm not saying they aren't all going to be the same, I'm saying that threads almost never HAVE to be held to .001.
