Hey guys i stil cant find much reaserch on this. I dont know what most people are talking about when they say not a true 3 link and not a true 4. Like they are radius wheels or something? I dont get what radius oppse to 3 4 and stock. I know that 3 link there are 3 control arms and 4 is the same but I dont get how some arnt true

The info is out there if you look. Have a couple detailed threads on here about it too.
Radius arm has the uppers connected to the lowers vs them all having independent mounting points

Just talking about three separate control arms versus a radius or wishbone radius with nothing attaching to passenger side UCA mount

So you are talking about the iro long arms. Its not a "true" three link because the upper mounts to the lower instead of running to the unibody.

I'll explain it again.
A stock front suspension on an XJ is a 4 link short arm with a panhard
Most off the shelf long arm kits are a radius setup meaning that there are 2 lower arm mounting points from a cross member other frame mount, and then the uppers are built off the lowers..they aren't a complete separate link.
In most cases here..a 4 link is simply the same setup as stock, but with long arms instead. 4 links with 4 separate mounts on the frame side.
With the addition of a panhard.
The 4 link has to have a panhard unless you run a triangulated setup..which isn't the easiest on an XJ.
A 3 link is the same as the 4 link as described above..by minus 1 upper link. So 2 lowers, and 1 upper. (Plus a panhard)

Yes. I run the IRO setup, nice setup for the price. It is not a true 3 link. It connects to the axle in 3 places but to the unibody in only two.Originally Posted by wiggles
